Wow I meant to answer this aaaages ago but forgot because I didn’t want to answer on the app!
Honestly this is a toughie. Super speed is great, but then so are hands. They say that a major thing that makes humans different is our opposable thumbs, but at the same time if we all didn’t have them I assume we would adapt our tools and society and get by fine.
That being said, if we all had super speed, it would just seem like average speed, because everyone was that fast. We would be expected to get our work done twice as quickly, and get places twice as fast. I guess it depends if the physics of everything else stays the same. We wouldn’t often use vehicles anymore if we were faster than them, so no need to save people from car accidents, but if things still fell at the same speed we could always do a lot of epic catches and save people from great falls. We would however need to work on new catching skills given the lack of hands.
Overall this would require re-adapting the entire world in two massive ways, and I can’t see enough benefits to justify it at a glance, so I’d say I would not press the button.
God I love these questions, they’re always so fun to think out.
Dear person I had a crush on,
You were once much more important than you realized. If only you knew how much you influenced my world in the 5th grade. Through the days at school I would listen to you talk about your interests and peek at the sitckers on your backpack and pencilcase, trying to find common interests to connect over. I would try to read what meaning, if any, was behind any eye contact we had. I would overanalyse how stupid I sounded in any conversation to occur between us. I remember you once were talking to a group about teeth and asked me to smile so you could see mine, and I stressed for the rest of the day that I could have done it in a prettier way. I still think I could have, to be honest. The funny thing is that very little, if anything, would be different if I had, because the fact of the matter is that I had a crush on you not because we shared any interests, because we had fun together, or because we were well matched. We didn’t really hang out much at all. In fact sometimes you were kind of a douche. I simply found you attractive, but was not either ready or able to connect with you on any other levels. I’m sorry if I ever objectified you, I just thought you were really cool at the time. I still get crushes from time to time, and most of them are as ill advised as this one was, but I hope you and all of the other crushes out there would get a kick out of knowing you are way more important to some secret admirer out there than you realise.
[ PASSIONATELY SINGS A SONG IN A LANGUAGE I DON’T UNDERSTAND]
I love how they’re all Disney.
I love how the person who sings Belle passionately doesn’t know what bonjour means
“The character design of Flynn came from the process which was called the “hot man meeting” by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, during which they set up a meeting with all of the female employees of the studio in one room and asked them for their opinions of what made a man good looking in order to create Flynn’s character design with features such as eye color, hair color and style and body type. Video footage showed concept art and photos of various male celebrities, including Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, Brad Pitt, David Beckham and Gene Kelly on the walls of the room. Director Byron Howard said they wanted to make Flynn “the most handsome, most attractive male lead Disney has ever had.”
"The hot man meeting" is now my second favorite animation design story, after the one about how Pixar animators working on the Dug team for Up had “fat dog day” where they basically went to a shelter and were like “please bring out your fattest dogs,” and then they hung out with the fattest jolliest available dogs, all day.
man would i love to be a pixar animator
Don’t forget Brave’s Kilt Fridays where all the animators wore kilts to work every friday during production.
This is why I want to work for these fun guys
